Marilyn Joyce Ehlers, age 81, of Le Center, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2024 at the Carriage House Senior Living in Le Center. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 14 from 10am-11am with funeral service at 11am all held at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Le Center. Interment will be held in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Marilyn was born on April 27, 1943 to Russell and Laura (Scheffert) Burgess. She was baptized and confirmed in St. Paul Lutheran Church in Le Center. She attended Commercial College in St. Peter. Marilyn was united in marriage to Gene Ehlers on September 28, 1963 at St. Paul Lutheran Church and then moved to Winona. They were blessed with 3 children.

Out of school Marilyn’s first job was with Baystate Milling Company in Winona. After the birth of her first child, Marilyn chose to be a stay-at-home mom for 14 years. After a move back to Le Center, she took a job with the Le Sueur County Abstract Company and worked there until retirement. Marilyn was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and an active member of the community. She enjoyed gardening, walking, travel, and especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

She will be deeply missed by her 2 daughters, Corrine (Brad) Steinhoff, and Kim (Bill) VanRyswyk; and son, Russ (Tracy) Ehlers; 9 grandchildren, Lara (Jack) Wieland, Abby (Isaac) Grooms, Jared (Ashlie) VanRyswyk, Jacob VanRyswyk, Sarah VanRyswyk, Katie (Scott) Bernard, Molly Ehlers, Sam Ehlers, and Geena Ehlers; 5 great-grandchildren, Scottie, Sullivan, and Scarlett Bernard, Zoey VanRyswyk and Jens Wieland; sister, Carol Connolly; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews.

Marilyn is preceded in death by her husband, Gene Ehlers.
